Building Technology

With its communication and measurement modules, Kraus & Naimer offers a modular solution for intelligent acquisition and communication of energy data – flexibly applicable in building technology and many other areas. The following modules are available:

DAT Module

The measurement module (DAT.SA or DAT.KA) precisely records electrical parameters such as current, voltage and power. It is scalable for various applications and can be installed directly at relevant consumption points.

COM Module

The communication module (COM) acts as a gateway for up to 16 DAT modules. The data from the DAT modules is transmitted wirelessly to the COM module. Serving as the customer interface, the COM module forwards this data to higher-level systems via standardized protocols such as Modbus RTU/TCP, Ethernet or MQTT. An integrated web server (WebUI) enables user-friendly data visualization and configuration.

Energy Monitoring in Building Technology

Typical use cases

  • Monitoring of heating and air conditioning systems
  • Consumption analysis of elevators, lighting, or server rooms
  • Detection of peak loads and idle consumption

Your challenge

In modern buildings – whether office complexes, hotels or public institutions – energy consumption is a key cost factor.

Especially in times of rising energy prices and increasing legal requirements for COâ‚‚ reduction, it is becoming more important to make energy usage transparent.

Often, there is no system in place that precisely records and analyzes the energy consumption of individual building areas or devices. It is difficult to identify peak loads, inefficient consumers, or unnecessary base loads.

This leads to unnecessarily high energy costs and complicates the implementation of energy management systems according to ISO 50001.

Our solution

The phi modules from Kraus & Naimer enable modular and scalable acquisition of energy consumption data directly at relevant distribution points in the building.

By combining measurement modules (DAT) and the communication module (COM), current flows, voltages, and power values can be monitored in real time.   The data is transmitted via MQTT or Modbus RTU/TCP to central systems, where it can be visualized and analyzed.

The result

Example:  An office building can significantly reduce its night-time energy consumption through targeted measures based on the collected data. This can be achieved by optimizing lighting systems, switching off unnecessary devices, and improving heating and cooling systems.

At the same time, the foundation is laid for a certified energy management system according to ISO 50001, which leads to long-term cost savings and more efficient use of resources.
